I’m traveling this week, so today’s newsletter is a short look at betting (and betting-adjacent) content I’ve been consuming, and finding genuinely useful, since I last shared on this topic.
In June, I wrote a detailed post on podcasts, newsletters, and books I find valuable for betting. Today, I’m sharing three new sources where I’ve been learning from sharp bettors and/or sourcing ideas.
As always, we’ll close with this week’s Bets of the Week!
Let’s get after it.
Three Recommendations and One Must-Listen Epidode
Podcast · GoldenPants13 · Willing to bet this is the sharpest podcast in sports betting
The Risk Takers Podcast isn’t a “picks” show—it’s free, long-form, evergreen betting education hosted by pro bettor John Shilling (GoldenPants13) alongside SportsProjections. They cover practical topics like advantage play, exchange strategy, market dynamics, and bankroll/risk management (often via listener Q&A). I’ve learned a lot, and the guest quality is consistently strong.
KoalatyStats | Joseph Bryan | Substack
Data Science and Statistics to predict the future in the NFL. If you like unique, evidence backed NFL analysis, you will like this publication.

KoalatyStats (Joseph Bryan) is a model-heavy NFL Substack that turns play-by-play/PFF-driven analysis into “advanced stats, predictions, and hidden value” writeups, often framing angles through tail-event thinking, pressure/coverage mismatches, and other quant signals. I’ve used Joseph’s research to inform my NFL betting, though I rarely tail him directly. It costs $15/month or $50/year.
An independent college basketball outlet.

Basket Under Review is an independent college-basketball hub that publishes 3–4 new pieces most weekdays and sends a free daily newsletter recapping major scores/storylines (with links to everything new on the site). There’s also a paid Discord community (coaching carousel + recruiting intel, lineup updates, and betting insights), plus a steady lineup of shows/podcasts—headlined by The Basket Under Review Podcast hosted by Eamonn Brennan. It costs $10 month.
How To Find An Edge, Scale It Successfully & Stay In Your Lane | Presented by Kalshi
Former Juice Reel crusher CalvinAndHobo recently was the featured guest in a spectacular episode of Circles Off. He gave a masterclass in growing as a bettor and talked about his journey as well as his methods. This builds on our interview last year and is a free listen.
That’s it for this week, on to the bets!
